Spittakes takes a show business convention as its starting point and extends it into a power play. As a means of transforming embarrassment into a loss of physical control, the actual spittake leaves little to the imagination:  one man wins; one man loses. Type A visually establishes the awkward intensity between two people in one drawn-out filmic sequence. What triggers the reaction is never revealed, but clearly a loss of control has occurred. Also emphasized is the inherent humor of the situation: we are left with curiosity about what has occurred, ridicule for the victim, and relief that whatever it was, it happened to someone else.
